Um.es: A Totally Unofficial, Slightly Confused, and Probably Wrong Look
So, um.es, huh? That’s the University of Murcia’s domain, right? At least, that’s what I’m gathering from this jumble of text. It’s like someone threw a bunch of webpage snippets into a blender and hit ‘go’. Anyway, from what I can *kinda* decipher, it seems pretty important if you’re, you know, trying to do anything at the University of Murcia.
First off, the “Aula Virtual” bit. Sounds like “virtual classroom”, which, duh, makes sense. You got your welcome page, your department stuff (hidden, apparently, which is kinda sus if you ask me), and contact info. Like, if you need to yell at someone about your economics degree (Edificio nº 2, Espinardo campus, write that down!), you know who to email. [email protected], don’t @ me if they get annoyed with random emails.
Then there’s this “Mi Campus” thing. They’re all “access personalized information,” and “catalog of applications,” which sounds like a real pain, but probably useful if you’re trying to, like, register for classes or figure out where the heck the library is. I mean, “Mi Campus,” it’s kinda cute, right? They’re trying to make it feel all personal and stuff. Good for them, honestly.
And then BAM, outta nowhere, “Educación Infantil y Educación Primaria.” Totally random. My brain did a thing. Is this a university or a daycare? Probably a university, that teaches people how to teach at the daycare.
But wait! There’s more! Fisioterapia! Now, they’re talking about training “generalist” physiotherapists. Generalist? Like, they can fix anything? From a stubbed toe to a broken back? Sounds ambitious. But hey, good for them. Get that bag, future physios!
Nutrición Humana y Dietética pops up too. Basically, they want to create people who know how to tell you what to eat. Which, honestly, we probably all need. Could use a nutritionist myself, come to think of it. All that late-night ramen during exam season…yeesh.
Oh, and then there’s the TV Universidad de Murcia. TV! Like, they have their own TV station? That’s kinda cool, if you’re into watching lectures on, you know, TV. I’d probably end up watching cat videos, tbh.
And finally, the legal mumbo jumbo. “Delegado de Protección de Datos” and “Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.” Basically, they’re telling you they’re trying to be responsible with your data. Which is good. But also kinda boring. [email protected] if you’re paranoid.
