Swisswatch.is: Legit or Nah? (And Why I’m Kinda Confused)
So, listen, I’m trying to figure out this whole swisswatch.is thing. And honestly? I’m a little all over the place. See, the only real “info” I got to work with is this blurb about SwissWatchExpo (which, btw, sounds pretty legit, selling all those fancy schmancy Rolexes and whatnot) and then some stuff about the Swatch Group (you know, the guys who make, like, *everything* watch-related).
Nowhere in either of those does swisswatch.is even get a mention. Like, zilch. Nada. So, what’s a person supposed to think?
My gut feeling is this: swisswatch.is is *probably* just some domain name someone is sitting on, hopin’ to cash in on the whole “luxury Swiss watch” craze. I mean, think about it. “swisswatch” dot “is” – catchy, right? Perfect for reselling if someone else comes along with a legit watch biz in Iceland (cause, y’know, “.is” is Iceland’s domain).
Or, MAYBE… and this is me just throwing spaghetti at the wall here… maybe it’s a *really* new, super-secret project by someone associated with either SwissWatchExpo or Swatch Group. Like, a hush-hush online store targeting a specific niche. But honestly? That’s a stretch. A *big* stretch. It’s more likely that its just someone who wants to use the domain for other purposes.
The SwissWatchExpo thing is giving me a little more confidence about the general subject of watches – the mention of certified authentic luxury Swiss watches implies this is a legit market.
I mean, Swatch Group seems to be doing fine on their own, selling all those components. I would guess that they are more of a manufacturing group, but I could be wrong.
I’m a bit skeptical though, because if swisswatch.is *was* something cool, wouldn’t we have heard something by now? Especially with how aggressively these watch companies market themselves.
