Okay, so, let me just say this right off the bat: Poshmark, we need to talk. Like, seriously. I’ve been selling on there for ages – literally *ages* in internet years – and I thought I knew the drill. But this latest thing? Nope. Not buying it.
So, here’s the deal. I sold a [insert bag type here, e.g., “vintage Coach bag,” “The Row hobo,” “Louis Vuitton Neverfull”] – and let me just emphasize, it was totally legit. I’m talking receipts, dust bag, the whole shebang. I’m not some fly-by-night seller trying to pass off a Canal Street knockoff as the real deal. I take pride in what I sell, you know? Plus, I know my stuff. I’ve even had my son, who used to authenticate luxury goods in Japan (for real!), look at my inventory sometimes. He’s got an eye for spotting fakes, taught me a thing or two after I got burned once with a “vintage” Gucci bag. Ugh, that was a nightmare.
Anyway, fast forward. Buyer gets the bag, opens a case, and claims it’s…wait for it…FAKE. Like, seriously? I almost choked on my coffee. Poshmark then steps in and, get this, *sides with the buyer*. They’re saying my authentic bag is a replica. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
It’s like, are they even looking at the photos? Did they even bother to, like, *actually* authenticate it? Or are they just taking the buyer’s word for it? I’ve seen so many posts about scammers on Poshmark, especially with The Row bags, stealing photos and selling fakes. I even started watermarking mine because I was so paranoid!
Honestly, it feels like they’re more interested in protecting buyers – which, okay, I get it, buyer protection is important. BUT what about the sellers? What about protecting *us* from fraudulent claims? What about the time and effort I put into describing the item accurately, taking good photos, and shipping it out promptly? And now I’m out the bag *and* the money? That doesn’t seem fair, does it?
I’m starting to think maybe Poshmark’s authentication process needs some serious work. I mean, I’ve seen people claiming Poshmark authenticated fake items. And that’s not even getting into the whole thing where buyers try to pull the “send back the extra money” scam, which is SO shady. It makes you wonder who’s really getting protected here.
I’m fighting this, obviously. I’ve sent them all the proof I have – receipts, photos, everything. I’m hoping they’ll reconsider. But honestly, it’s making me rethink selling on Poshmark altogether. It’s just too much stress. Maybe I’ll stick to eBay, or try The RealReal. At least they (supposedly) have expert authenticators.
