Anyway, so I was poking around online, cuz I’m thinking, Halloween’s coming up, right? And dressing up as Indy is, like, always a solid choice. Never goes out of style. And what’s Indy without the boots? Just some dude with a hat and a whip, which, let’s face it, is still kinda cool, but the boots *make* the outfit.
I stumbled across a bunch of stuff. Indygear.net, which sounds super official, like a place where serious Indy nerds hang out (and probably argue about the exact shade of brown used on his jacket in *Raiders*). Apparently, they even spotted some stuff in the “Crafting Indy” featurette, which… okay, I’m gonna have to watch that now. Distraction! Must… focus… on… boots!
So, yeah, replicas. You can find ’em. Some are, shall we say, better than others. I saw one site selling, like, hand-painted 3D-printed Holy Grails… which, cool, but also, totally off-topic. I mean, the Grail is awesome, but we’re talking about *footwear* here! Stay with me, people!
Then there’s the whole “costume/wardrobe” category. You know, the places that sell the whole kit and caboodle. I even saw something about Indy’s work gloves… Okay, seriously? Gloves? Who’s obsessed with Indy’s gloves? I mean, I guess someone is. There’s probably a whole forum dedicated to glove-related Indy minutiae. I shudder to think.
And then there’s the Grail Diary. Wait, what? How did we get to the Grail Diary? Oh, right, the sites selling this stuff are all over the place. I mean, you start looking for boots and suddenly you’re drowning in prop replicas and details about Henry Jones’ meticulous notes. Honestly, it’s easy to get lost.
The *real* question is, are these replica boots any good? Are they going to fall apart after one afternoon of pretending to outrun a giant boulder? Are they comfortable enough to wear while, say, trick-or-treating with the kids? Or are they just gonna look good on a shelf, next to my collection of… um… other stuff?
